Lynn Hawbaker rejoined THP for the Fall Classic
On Saturday, November 17,2001, Team High
Profile raced in the Mid-America Xtreme - Fall Classic. The race
consisted of 36 coed teams of four. It was an entry level adventure
race covering 4O miles in the Kettle Morraine State Park and area around
Delafield, Wisconsin. Team High Profile organized a rookie team
called Team High Profile Too, to race with and mentor throughout the
race. THP Too was comprised of Bruce Grell, Theresa Voelkers,
Greg Aronson, and Rick Wren. The race began at 8:00 a.m. under
blue sky's and warm temperatures. It started with an 8 mile trail
run on a cross country ski trail up and down the glacial morraine hills
and valleys. It was followed by an 14 mile single track to road
bike leg to a transition area where racers began canoeing over 5 miles
on a beautiful clear water lake. The canoeing was followed by
another 11 mile road to single track bike leg. During this leg,
teams had to remove a wheel, change the tire and continue. The
race finished with an 4 mile orienteering leg with 4 markers to the
finish line. Both teams finished together in exactly 7:00 hours.
Both teams wish to thank Mid-America Xtreme, especially Keith
Lamb, the race director for organizing this race. A great time
was had by all!
